Arched Street and Fournier House

This vault is either an old gate marking the entrance of the village or one leading to a dependency of the first château of la Ruaz.

It gave its name to the ancient route into the village, on the same route as the Gallo-roman highway, la Rua, from Brogny to Casuaria ( Faverges). It ran across the village and continued as far as the hamlet of Morat.

At n°5 Rue de la Voûte stands one of the oldest houses in the village, the maison Fournier, dating from the 15th and the 16th centuries. One can admire its beautiful façade made of joint stones, its gemeled windows, its brackeled lintels, its mitre joint structure sculpted with fleur-de-lys,its crosses, balls and spikes, as well as its stone border at 1st floor level. It has kept its « viorbe », a spiral staircase made of limestone and molasse.

According to an oral tradition, Saint François de Sales would have spent a night in this house.
